Some weekend...

Some weekends just seem like they need a list. We are normally a family of homebodies, but this holiday weekend was fun and packed.

1. Went to my friend Melanie's fabulous 40th birthday. Imagine turning 40 on Friday the 13th! But she pulled it off and we all ate Chinese. In honor of her birthday, I tried something I had never eaten before: frog legs. Yes, they did. Taste like chicken, that is.

2. Reminded the kids to quit fighting.

3. Artist Trading Cards at church. Led by Raine, we made collage cards. Tons of fun. I forgot how much being creative with other people calms my heart and makes me sing. We're going to make art every 2nd Saturday morning.

4. Went to the library and picked up the new Sara Paretsky. Yippee!!

5.Yelled at kids to quit bickering.

6. Laundry-mageddeon. You know, like every weekend. I miss being a stay-at-home-mom when it seemed like I had a handle on the laundry.

7. Went to a "hot wine" party at our neighbors. Chris and Eleanor, the social butterflies, stayed for the whole thing. Paul and I stayed for a short time and came home to be introverted. That's the great thing about a party at a neighbor's.

8. Talked Eleanor down off the ledge of a ghost story she heard at the "hot wine" party.

9. Read the new Sara Paretsky.

10. Church (or as Paul pronounces it, "turch") where we got to see the newest baby in the congregation.

11. Helped Paul blow his nose approximately 500 million times (which is why I didn't try to hold either of the new babies I met this weekend.)

12. Little lip gloss expedition with the girl.

13. Told kids to stop "wrassling."

14. Made LEGO. Forever and forever.

15. Assigned LEGO-frenzied children jobs so they could earn money.

16. Continued trash talking the Fruit and Vegetable Challenge.

17. Watched "Star Trek: TNG" with the children.

18. Had a great visit with my mom, dad, and brother.

19. Used my parents' vehicle to purchase new wheels for myself, my old bike having been cheap and fallen apart under Paul's and my combined weight. Still not completely mobile though as I have to acquire a trailer or something to drive Paul around.

20. Ate Chinese food with my parents. Chinese food twice in one weekend. Yummy.

21. Made and ate vat of pumpkin-leek soup. So good.

22. Rebuked children for bickering.

23. Continued the project of getting the house organized for the New Year. With help of LEGO-frenzied, money-hungry children.

24. Read more of the new Sara Paretsky.

25. And now Elly and I are going to watch this week's "Once Upon a Time."

Reading over this list, I see the only thing missing was some time with Chris. Paul did catch us kissing in one of our breaks from yelling at the children for fighting. And Paul announced, "Hey! You already married!" Hmmmm....

We (BAN and I) are OUAT fans too. Something else they can geek over this weekend.
